Battle of the Bands – Our Annual Banded Bird Fundraiser Is Back!

Every year, we look forward to one of our favorite traditions here at Lake Charles Tackle — the Battle of the Bands, our annual banded bird fundraising contest. It's a great excuse to get out in the marsh, compete with fellow hunters, and give back to the community at the same time.

Why We Do It

All proceeds from the Battle of the Bands go directly to local high school fishing teams and 4-H programs. That means every entry you buy helps put a young angler or outdoorsman in the field. It's one of the best ways we know to invest in the next generation.

How the Contest Works

The concept is simple: register before the season, go hunt, and hope you bring in a banded bird.

  • The contest runs from Teal Season through the end of Specklebelly Season each year
  • All hunting must take place within the state of Louisiana
  • Harvest a banded bird, report the band, and obtain your USGS certificate
  • Bring the certificate to us at the shop to enter the grand prize drawings

⚠️ Important: You must be registered before you harvest the banded bird to be eligible for prizes.

You Don't Have to Kill a Band to Win

Here's the best part — every registered participant is automatically entered into a drawing for a custom Riceland Duck and Goose call package, banded bird or not. Just sign up and you're in the running.

Entry Fees

  • Adult (17+): $25
  • Youth (16 and under): $10

How to Enter

Tickets can be purchased in store at Lake Charles Tackle or online right here. Don't wait — sign up before your first hunt of the season to make sure you're eligible from day one.

See you in the marsh. Good luck, and shoot straight!
