We get asked every week what shells we have and what's worth shooting, so here's the straight answer. Below is what's on the shelf right now, what each load is good for, and the couple of things we can't keep in stock. It's all listed on the site, so you can order it or set it aside for pickup.
Our top seller right now: Migra Steel Waterfowl 12 gauge
If you want to know what's actually working for hunters around here, look at what's leaving the shelf. The Migra Steel Waterfowl 12 gauge is our number one seller at the moment, and it isn't close.
It's a 3-inch shell running 1 1/4 oz of steel at 1445 FPS, built as a stacked load that puts two shot sizes in the same shell. We stock it in 4/6, 2/4, 2/3, 1/3, and 2/BB, so you can match it to whether you're shooting teal over decoys or geese at the edge of the spread. No filler, small-batch loaded.
Dove loads
Dove season is the one where people run out of shells on a Saturday afternoon, so buy more than you think you need. The Migra 12 Gauge Ultimate Dove is a 2 3/4" lead load stacked specifically for dove, and it's been one of our better movers all season. We carry the same load in 20 gauge for the lighter guns.
If you'd rather shoot a case without thinking twice about the price, the Federal Game Load 12 gauge 2 3/4" #8, 25-round box is the classic value pick for dove and quail.
The HEVI situation
Let's get this out of the way, because it's the question we field most: HEVI-Bismuth and HEVI-Metal are hard to get. Not sold out for the afternoon, hard to get. Orders come in small and they leave fast, and we can't tell you weeks ahead when the next pallet lands. When a shipment does land, it goes up on the site, so that's the fastest way to know we have it.
What we do keep more consistently is HEVI Steel 12 gauge 3" 1 1/4 oz, and for a lot of duck hunting over decoys it does the job just fine.
Migra 2F.7 Funeral Pack 20 gauge, while it lasts
We have the Migra 2F.7 Funeral Pack in 20 gauge in stock right now. Worth knowing before you wait on it: this was a limited edition run, so when our stock is gone, it's gone. It's a 3-inch shell with a 1 oz stacked payload of #2 steel over #4 steel, which makes it a serious 20 gauge duck load for anyone running a lighter gun.
If you've been curious about it, this is the season to grab a box rather than next year.
Steel waterfowl loads
This is where most of our shelf space goes. Kent Teal Steel 12 gauge 3" is our deepest stock right now, and it's a solid early-season choice when birds are decoying close. HEVI Steel is the step up when you want a little more authority on bigger ducks.
General rule if you're new to it: smaller shot for teal and close work, bigger shot when the birds are larger or hanging out at the edge of your range. Pattern your gun before the season instead of guessing.
Target loads
For clays, Winchester Super Target Light 12 gauge and Winchester Super-Target 20 gauge cover most of what folks need. Cheap enough to shoot a lot, which is the point.
How to get what you want
Order the HEVI online the week it shows up. Grab the limited-run stuff like the Migra Funeral Pack while it's still listed. Buy your dove and steel loads early in the season rather than the week everyone else does. And if you're shooting a case a season, give us a call, we can often work something out when a shipment comes in.
